The CFPB pointed out that “RESPA`s main objective is to eliminate bribes or referral fees that tend to unnecessarily increase the cost of [residual mortgage] services and stated in 2015 that, based on its own investigations and reports, industry whistleblowers appear to be being used “to conceal bribes and referral fees.” The Agency cited examples of MSA abuse with lenders, valuation management and title insurance companies. . . .
